In keeping with all Talk power amplifiers, the Tornado 2.2 is a MOSFET based design which yields a healthy 100W into 8 ohms. It will happily drive all 'real world' loudspeakers with ease and can be supplied as either a mono or stereo version.

As a dedicated two channel power amplifier it represents exceptional value for money. Based on a custom made dual wound 400VA transformer (200VA per channel) this amplifier is essentially a dual mono design that offers an awesome dynamic range with total control.

When configured as a 3 channel model it uses three separate 200VA transformers - for space reasons, whilst the mono has exceptional dynamic head room by combining both windings from the 400VA design for the ultimate listening experience. All three variations offer user switchable balanced or single ended inputs.

Talk Electronics Cyclone 1.2 Integrated Amplifier

Extensive use of surface-mount technology and micro-processor controlled input-switching eliminates the need for conventional wiring within this amplifier and maximises the signal-to-noise ratio. This allows a much lower level of background noise - volume does not now need to be wicked up for good detail retrieval.

Based on a 200VA transformer and producing a healthy 80 Watts into 8 Ohms, over 140 Watts into more difficult 4 Ohm loads, the Cyclone 1.2 demonstrates an impressive ability to drive even the most demanding of loudspeakers. As with all Talk amplifiers, dynamics are a given - what may be surprising is the high-level of subtlety and deftness that also abounds from this muscular amplifier. Vocals in particular are projected with a sense of space and solidity that allows all the musical nuances to be felt and experienced, not just heard.

Double sets of speaker outputs are provided via the new EU safety 'BFA' plugs for bi-wire applications. Although this is our entry level pre-amplifier it is packed with useful features such as full remote control over volume, mute and input functions, amd a separate record/listen facility. It supports many different modes of operation, either as the heart of a complete audio visual system, or as a simple two zone pre-amplifier. However, its main function is to provide the basis for a high quality two channel audio system where sound quality comes first.

The Hurricane 3.1B pre-amplifier represents the top of the current range of Talk pre-amplifiers. It is, if not unique, one of the only high quality pre-amplifiers available which allows direct connection of an audio processor offering master volume control over all 6 channels without compromising your two channel sound quality in any way.

This enables you maximize the sound quality from your AV system by putting the master gain in the analog domain, where it belongs and setting the digital volume control of your existing processor to maximum so that you do not loose all of those vital digital bits. The difference is quite amazing.

Talk Electronics Thunder 2.2B CD Player

The Thunder 2.2 is essentially a Thunder 3.1B without the up-sampling. It uses the same internal architecture and DAC but set for 44.1kHz . As a consequence it is upgradeable to it's bigger brother should you wish to do so.

Sporting fully balanced and single ended outputs it is the ideal match for the Hurricane 2.2 and Tornado2.2 Amplifier or the Cyclone 2.2 Integrated amplifier.

Utilising two transformers, one for analogue and one for the digital section, ensures that there is no unnecessary interference between the power supplies, even so, there is still the flexibility to add an outboard, Whirlwind 2.2 DC power supply for the analogue section for the ultimate performance

Talk Electronics Thunder 3.1B CD Player

As one of the world's first true up-sampling CD players, the Thunder 3.1B represents the leading-edge in CD technology.

The technology comprises of two main parts - interpolation and up-sampling. Interpolation is the re-description of 16 bits of data into 24 bits - 8 bits are 'added' to the combination. Up-sampling is effectively a massive increase in the number of times a particular data 'word' is described per second - this increase goes from 44.1kHz to 192kHz.

As a result each data 'word' has approximately five times the amount of information or detail and results in much greater accuracy than a normal CD player relying on conventional technology.

In the application of this technology in the Thunder 3.1B there is a massive memory buffer in the middle which allows for the input and output to be asynchronous. Therefore as a result what goes in in terms of speed and pitch comes out the same!
