Saxon A300 Integrated Amplifier
By raiding the parts bins from our various different historic and current models, from both Talk and Saxon, we have been able to produce this stunning amplifier. The power amp section is directly 'stolen' from the A500 and it's mother board is passed down from our older Talk Cyclone 1.1. The Transformer and capacitors are the same as we used in our Talk Storm 1, our original integrated amplifier but with the more recent pre-amp section of the Cyclone 1.1. The cost savings that this process yields means that we are able to produce an exceptional performance for the money. Producing a healthy 50 Watts into 8 Ohms and over 80 Watts into more difficult 4 Ohm loads, the A300 demonstrates an impressive ability to drive all real world loudspeakers. Standard 4mm binding posts are provided for the speaker outputs. The amplifier is fully equipped with RC5 based remote control for input selection, volume and mute functions, however to keep costs down is supplied without a handset. Although one can be provided if you find it necessary. The matching CD300's handset will operate both items. Saxon A500 Integrated Amplifier By borrowing the same 1.2mm chassis as the A700 and benefiting from 6mm extruded military-grade HE9 aluminium front panel, the Saxon A500 is a very elegant and highly respected performer. It uses the same PCB as it's bigger brother but with a slightly smaller power supply and as a result a slightly lower output - 70 Watts into 8 ohms. The use of ultra-short signal-paths and the elimination of the need for conventional wiring has resulted in an exceptional price/performance ratio. The power amp section in this integrated amplifier sets new standards at it's modest price, a level of dynamism and resolution previously unheard of in competing products. The increased resolution of transients, coupled with finely etched detail allows a stunning level of realism and scale. Producing a healthy 75 Watts into 8 Ohms and over 125 Watts into more difficult 4 Ohm loads, the A500 demonstrates an impressive ability to drive even the most demanding of loudspeakers. As with all Saxon amplifiers, dynamics are a given - what may be surprising is the high-level of subtlety and deftness that also abounds from this muscular amplifier. Saxon A700 MK2 Integrated Amplifier Based on a fully complimentary Bi-polar output devices Hand-built using a 1.2mm steel chassis and benefiting from 10mm extruded military-grade HE9 aluminium front panels, the Saxon A700 is a very elegant piece of design. Saxon CD300 CD Player 24/192 Upsampling Based upon the top of the range CD700 this is a 'top down' design using many of the main elements that make that player so good. Built around the same L1210 Philips mechanism this player compromises only in the power supply which although based on a single transformer still has separate windings for the various digital and analogue functions. In order to reduce costs we have omitted the balanced outputs whilst cosmetically the front panel has been reduced in thickness to 6mm. As a result of this 'top down' philosophy we can use the same digital processing including the twin differential DAC's. unique at this price point. The analogue output topology is the same offering not only a similar performance but with the added bonus of an upgrade path for your future. Saxon CD700 Mk 2 CD Player Built around the latest L1210 Philips mechanism this, the top of the range Saxon CD player will not disappoint, with stunning sound quality and fully balanced differential outputs this player is a cut above what you would normally expect at this price level. Great lengths have been taken to optimise the printed circuit board layout to gain the maximum performance from the two, dual differential digital to analogue converters (DACs) which are followed by our own custom analogue output circuitry, minimising phase shift whilst giving excellent attenuation of radio frequency interference inherently generated by digital circuitry. Saxon C700 Preamplifier 6 Channel The all new Saxon C700 is probably the most flexible 6 channel remote controllable Pre-amp currently available. With it's unique user selectable, high or low gain, a six channel AV/MCA input and output facility with built in master control over all six channels simultaneously, plus a fully balanced CD input and main Left and Right outputs. Saxon P700/2 Stereo Power Amplifier The Saxon P700 is a bi-polar 100Watt Stereo Power amplifier. Based on a custom made 300VA transformer with separate windings for each channel. It uses circuit topology 'borrowed' from it's bigger brother, the Talk Electronics Tornado 2.2 power amplifier. It has user switchable balanced and un-balanced inputs and standard gold plated 4mm binding posts. Only one set of binding posts are available per channel as when bi-wiring the correct amplifier termination is for two plugs only, otherwise you lose half the benefit as the ground point is no longer common. The performance offered is without compromise for the price, as with all Saxon products the price/performance ratio is the driving force during the design stages.
