CR Developments Woodham 300B Power Amplifier

The beginning of 1999 saw the launch of the Woodham 300B, two mono single ended triode amplifiers built into one chassis. Each amplifier has its own power supply and output transformer, using uniquely CR designed toroidal transformers. One legendary 300B output triode tube is in each amplifier, driven by a 6SN7 dual triode. There is no negative feedback employed in the circuit, which is inherently very linear. The 300B supplied with the amplifier is made by Sovtek in Russia, however both the Western Electric 300B and KR 300B can be supplied to special order. There is no doubt the Western Electric 300B offers amazing sound quality, but other brands of tube are very close behind, each offering a subtly different presentation. The power output of the Woodham is about 8 watts of pure triode magic for each channel. However, by paralleling the inputs and putting the outputs in series, which a simple operation, the Woodham offers 16 watts in mono. It is this flexibility that makes the Woodham 300B so unique. In some ways the Woodham represents a break from CR 's traditions. The chassis is finished is a smart glossy green and the amplifier is not named after mythological beings, like the other CR Amps.

CR Developments Artemis Power Amplifier

Artemis has touched the soul of all who have listened to it. The smooth sound of its 'Class A' balanced output stage gives a performance second to none, setting it apart from other products aspiring to this level of quality sound reproduction. Artemis not only sounds smooth and open, but electronic testing will reveal unrivalled technical capabilities, reinforcing CR’s view that all good products must be based on sound electronic design. Attention to detail is paramount at every stage of the manufacturing process, which includes individual component testing and matching, where any imbalance would compromise performance. Overall circuit symmetry negates the need for feedback, but still produces exceptionally low distortion figures. Specially made polypropylene capacitors are used in the signal paths throughout the amplifier, giving true sound transparency and clarity to the signal. Artemis will interface with all types of quality Hi-Fi components, although for optimum results, we would recommend it be used with our Kastor pre-amplifier. A level control is also provided for those wishing to drive the amplifier directly from a music source. Balanced line and common mode inputs are there to give optimum matching. Using the balanced line facility will also allow pre-amplifiers to be remotely situated without signal degradation through long cables. Artemis will drive many types of loudspeaker and give excellent control to the most difficult loads. Adequate output power will also enable the user to select loudspeakers from a wide range of sensitivities, an important consideration when matching components

CR Developments Kalypso Integrated Amplifier

Kalypso offers the quality, style and price that has brought valve amplification to a new audience of discerning listeners. The amplifier's smooth and effortless sound delivery and its ability to drive unspecialised loudspeakers has enabled the desirable upgrade to valve amplification for many audio enthusiasts. This amplifier never fails to excite new listeners, and is providing pleasure to thousands of people throughout the world.Technically Kalypso has the edge over many products sold at twice its price! Toroidal transformers are used throughout, as they are in the entire CR product range. The low leakage inductance inherent in this technology has brought extensive benefits to all the amplifiers, leaving them with an excellent frequency response and low distortion. Kalypso is an integrated amplifier with five switchable inputs. It has a conservatively rated 15 watts output which provides sufficient drive for many loudspeakers. Kalypso’s appearance is stylish, with stainless steel panels and high-gloss black chassis, normally synonymous with amplifiers three or four times its price. Matched with a good music source it will never fail to please the ear.

CR Developments Romulus Integrated Amplifier

The original CR amplifier, combining high performance, attractive styling and the unique CR valve sound. Romulus has set new standards in valve amplification, which others now strive hard to reproduce. The unusual circuit technique ensures total symmetry around the output stage, which formed the basis of this amplifier and continues to form the basis of many CR products. Attention to finish and exterior detail matches the electronic quality of this product, making it an exceptional and acceptable item in any surroundings. Romulus will provide sufficient power to comfortably drive most loudspeakers and is often used with relatively insensitive 88dB SPL loudspeakers in the Company listening room. Five inputs can be selected using the front panel control, although the switching can be bypassed and the amplifier connected directly to a pre-amplifier if desired. Tube sockets are hard wired to the circuit board to guarantee reliability and isolate other components from heat stress, thus making Romulus an exceptionally reliable and durable piece of equipment. Exterior stainless steel panels retain their high-gloss finish, as does the high-gloss black chassis. Also available with remote control.
